More Fun Visa Card

image

Want to buy stuff online? Can’t use your parents’ credit card for some reasons? Too lazy to go to post office to send money to other country just to buy something from online? You want to support the artist you love by buying their album on iTunes but you can’t? Ha! Those are my problems before. And I will share you the golden solution!
This is More Fun Visa card by Bank of the Philippines Islands, together with Department of Tourism and Visa, it is a prepaid card where you can do some transactions online.
More Fun Prepaid Cards are reloadable Visa prepaid cards issued by BPI that can be used to pay for online purchases as well as purchases from accredited shops and restaurants here and abroad where VISA is accepted. For the design of the card, clients can choose from the pre-selected images or can upload their own It’s More Fun in the Philippines-inspired photo and create their own witty statements.
How to apply?

Step 1. First go here and select your design :D
You can upload your own photo but unfortunately you can’t use other photo that is not yours. If you don’t want to put your own face on the card you just can use their designs. I used the Underground River design because it’s one of the best places I have visited!

On Step 2, add your name and email. NOTE: your name must be your real name and first name first. You know, in banking stuff, if you have a name like Maria Angela, Maria should be the first because I know some of us doesn’t want their first name. What I did is I put my second name that’s why I have experienced a hard time confirming my identity but let’s not talk about it.

Step 3, just fill out the details, put the branch where you want to pick-up your card. I suggest you to pick the nearest one. Then wait for their email.
For my experience, I waited for weeks after I got their email. They will email you the purchase agreement, after then you can pick-up your card. Bring a valid ID and P250.00 :)
Your card has a security code, expiration date and card number. Remember that your card is NOT a credit card, this is a prepaid visa card where you can only reload and deposit money but you CAN’T withdraw any amount from this card.

How to load your card?
You can load it through over-the-counter deposit, BPI ATMs, BPI Express Deposit Machines, BPI Express Mobile, BPI Express Phone (89-100) or if you have an existing account on BPIexpressonline.com you can load it from there. You have to enroll your prepaid card to your existing account.

How to enroll your prepaid card?
You need to have an existing account. This is quite the most fastest way to reload money for me. I have my savings account enrolled in bpiexpressonline.com and recently enrolled my prepaid visa account. They will tell you to wait for 24 hours if you enrolled on any BPI branch, but the reality is you have to wait 3-5 business days which means weekends are not included.

So you finally loaded and enrolled, and you want something online.
Let’s say you want something from iTunes, if you are going to ask me if this works on iTunes, my answer is Yes. I already bought one months ago just to give my card a first time online transaction experience. I bought a Taylor Swift song for 0.99 cents. Remember that it’s okay if you deposited an amount in Philippine Peso, don’t mind about this dollar thing.
Just put your card details correctly and make sure you have enough funds on your card to buy an app, video, album or a song.

Anyway, just to share my experience to you. Let’s say you happily purchased a song, you may not be able to download or update your apps even it’s a free app. And if iTunes wants to verify your card, and tells you some problems, nothing to be afraid of. However it will take weeks (that’s for my case) after I got my official receipt from iTunes then finally can download and update apps again. They will be sending receipts via email don’t worry.
Same for other online sites, you can use your card where VISA is accepted. But unfortunately, for some sites like CDJapan.com and FromJapan.co.jpthey are not accepting prepaid cards. They are strictly only accepting credit cards, cash on registered mail or Paypal.

EDIT: CDJapan is accepting prepaid cards. Yes! Click this!
In any case, Paypal is your chance. If you’re going to ask if you can link your prepaid visa card to your Paypal account to pay for your online purchases? YES! I have posted the steps here.

Click here for my post about Paypal and here for my AmazonJP experience.
How about in restaurants? SM Tickets?
Yes! I’ve experienced this one when my friend used my card to buy One Direction concert ticket. You can swipe your card just make sure you have enough funds on your card.
FYI, I use this card to purchase and pay my bills such as my Skycable and Globe telecom bills, to pay my tuition fee, to reload my phone and more.

This post is no way affiliated with Bank of the Philippine Islands and any other sites mentioned above.

  1. Hi! I applied for this card yesterday and just waiting for my card to be approved and sent over here in Nueva Ecija. I just wanna ask if when you purchase in Japanese online shops, and purchase something in JPY, will the card work? I'm planning to buy something in BOOTH.PM and they accept VISA credit cards (not sure if Prepaid CC are accepted though)

Hi! Yes! When I bought some stuff in JPY from different Japanese online sites before, I used my more fun prepaid card and it worked! ( even in JPY) I think as long as there's a VISA from payment option, it will definitely work. Just make sure the card has an enough amount to buy something :D

    3. Good afternoon, just wanna ask regarding the “Full Name” space, need po ba kasama middle name or kahit hindi na? Will this affect verification sa Paypal account if ever? Or if I ever pay something using this card?

  2. Hello!! :) Include it nalang to make it sure. Kasi sakin, kasama middle name sa prepaid card and sa PayPal din mismo. It will affect for verification kasi mahigpit ang transaction when it comes to using cards. So yea, just to make everything sure just include your full name :D

    1. Thanks! How about using "ñ" in the address? I'm having second thoughts if I should just make it "n" since most of the international shops online don't consider "ñ" in billing address, makes it difficult for me to verify it... ><

  3. Sorry for the late respond! I don't know if you're still having second thoughts this time but I think N for replacement of ñ is okay because in my case, my place has ñ on it, and they ended up considering it. :D

    1. Thanks!^^

I'm still waiting for my card to arrive at the nominated branch (here in Nueva Ecija) I chose. But it's been like 3 weeks already (June 30 I received their email that I successfully applied for it and have to wait 7 banking days)

I called the nominated branch today but still it's not there...orz

    2. That's actually the problem, it will take you a long time before you can get your actual card. When I applied for a card before, it took me almost 4 weeks (or more???) that's too much of waiting. Lol. Anyway, I guess you got your card already, am I right? If yes, that's good then.. :)
